Access to the Kootenay Valley from Calgary

We are thinking about traveling to the Kootenay Valley (from the eastern US)-- is it possible to fly all the way or would we need to drive from Calgary?

Hi Northern - Calgary would

Hi Northern - Calgary would most likely be a stop on your flight path. You could book a flight from Calgary to Cranbrook, which will put you into the heart of the Kootenays. But if you have never done the drive from Calgary into the Kootenay's (approx 4 hours), it is spectacular with many points of interest along the way. I tend to advise people to do the drive and make a loop of it. If time is short, book a flight to Cranbrook and grab a rental car there.

Northern, The drive west out

Northern,

The drive west out of Calgary and into the Rocky Mountains is full of different surprises. Beautiful prairies, wildlife, creeks, rivers waterfalls, two different National Parks, and unending spectacles for sight seeing. A must do in my opinion.

Cheers, and have a great trip!
