Hot Springs in Tofino

The Hot Springs are located on the coast of a remote provincial park in Clayoquot Sound, 23 km northwest of Tofino. Open year round and only accessible by boat or floatplane, the natural hot spring mineral pools attract travelers from around the world. The boiling spring water cascades down a waterfall into a series of rock pools and is gradually cooled by the incoming ocean swells.

A variety of transportation options from Tofino are available: Take a 2.5 hour boat ride and combine whale watching with your Hot Spring adventure, or explore the beautiful coastline of Clayoquot Sound from above on a 20 minute scenic floatplane flight. Once the plane or boat has arrived, visitors walk through Maquinna Provincial Park’s beautiful old-growth rainforest on a well maintained 2 km boardwalk trail, leading to the natural Hot Springs.

Note: The spring water has a temperature of approximately 40° Celsius and may be too hot for young children. Strollers, glass containers and any heavy luggage are not recommended. We suggest bringing enough bottled water, a packed lunch, towel, bathing suit and sunscreen. Don’t forget your camera.
